THIS YEAR'S THEME: THE BIG FAT WHY

In unpredictable times, we often seek answers, as we need our actions to have meaning. This is true for the television industry, its viewers, and indeed the entire world. Hence, this year's theme at the Copenhagen TV Festival is: The Big Fat Why.

When discussing the "why" in television, it typically refers to the rationale behind creating a program. Why is it important and relevant? This year, we'll introduce a broader "why" – one that delves into the deeper significance of our actions. Could there be new, exciting, and innovative ways to shape our ideas, productions, and the industry?

"The Big Fat Why is an invitation to continuously engage and question. Why should Danes continue to prioritize Danish content? What creative approaches and formats should we focus on for the future? And how can the industry improve?"

Rasmus Ladefoged, Chair of the Copenhagen TV Festival's program committee, and independent TV producer and consultant.

The Copenhagen TV Festival provides the industry with a chance to broaden its perspective and spark critical conversations that reveal new opportunities and solutions. We will discuss strategy, enhance our creative skills, and examine viewers' habits, needs, and preferences, ensuring that the industry continues to deliver significant, contemporary, and original programs to the Danish audience.
