DET VI (IKKE) SER

This session will be live-translated from Danish to English by Wordly.

When more perspectives get space on screen, it opens up new stories, new characters and new ways of seeing and understanding the world. Broader representation is not just about visibility – it is also about creating more nuanced narratives and content that more people can see themselves in.

In this session we explore how the TV industry can work with the representation of ethnic minorities in a way that strengthens both the content and the connection with the audience. Drawing on concrete examples, we look at the productions that succeed in creating authentic and diverse narratives, and those that don't – while discussing what we can learn from them.

How do we discover and confront the blind spots that can arise in the creative process? How do we ensure space for more experiences and perspectives both in front of and behind the screen? And how do we create stories that feel both specific and universal?

The session invites open exchange of experience across platforms, roles and ethnic backgrounds. Not to find a ready-made recipe, but to become wiser together about how we can tell stories that to a greater extent reflect the reality we live in.

This session has been organised by Zina Hameed and Marie Ernst Holmberg from the Programme Committee 2026.
