This session will be live-translated from Danish to English by Wordly.

How do you approach co-creation in high-stakes stories? And how do you protect the participants throughout the production process? We’ll explore these questions in depth as journalist Isabel Morales shares her experiences from the Cavling-nominated documentary project Underdanmark.

Drawing on the documentary Underdanmark, journalist Isabel Morales takes us behind the scenes to see how co-creation and undercover journalism was able to expose failures and illegal working conditions for migrant workers.

Isabel Morales shares specific methods for co-creation and the practical use of undercover techniques. The session covers everything from how to plan a project and brief the participants to how to continuously assess the risks that arise along the way.

Joining Morales on stage, you’ll also meet one of the moles who helped uncover the stories in Underdanmark. He will tell you why he put his job and safety at risk in the name of journalism. The session provides you with concrete tools for working systematically with co-creation, ethics and methodology, and how to make informed decisions in complex productions.

This session is organized by Louise Dalsgaard and Jennifer Tonndorff from programudvalget 2026.
