This year's theme at Copenhagen TV Festival is Blow My Mind, and Squid Game is just that. The Korean series Squidgame took the world by storm. During the first month, 110 mio viewers had already seen the series.
Ji-Yeon Kim, producer and CEO at the South Korean production company Sirene Pictures has worked very closely with the creator Dong-Hyuk Hwang, and she will give us her detailed insights into the creation of Squid Game and how she and Dong-Hyuk Hwang made the series come alive, the series journey from idea to contract and the work with season 2.
Squid Game, which started streaming on Netflix on Sept. 17 2021, and focuses on a desperately indebted group of people in South Korea. They're tricked into a deadly tournament, where 456 desperate contestants compete with each other in a mysterious and deadly survival game involving multiple rounds of childhood games to win 45.6 billion won that can pull them out of their misery.
