Behind Framing Britney Spears

One of this years most discussed documentaries is Framing Britney Spears. Copenhagen TV Festival 2021 gives you a unique chance to meet the creators behind the ‘The New York Times Presents’-documentary, when Samantha Stark and Liz Day give their insights into creating the much talked about documentary live from L.A. & New York.

This session is supported by Upright Music

Don’t miss out the opportunity to get all the details behind the documentary Framing Britney Spears, which has made a huge impact with its focus on the #FreeBritney movement and the medias framing of Britney Spears.

The documentary is an example of another documentary pushing the classic docu-boundaries without consent from the protagonist herself. Get to know why The New York Times made those choices, when director & producer Samantha Stark and Story Editor Liz Day visits Copenhagen TV Festival this August.

Framing Birtney Spears explores the challenges Britney Spears has encountered with the conservatorship controlled mostly by her father. The documentary also focuses on the #FreeBritney movement of fans who believe the singer is unfairly held 'captive' by her family and their management team. Besides investigating the whole conservatorship-situation the documentary also questions - as the title itself indicates - the 'male gaze'-framing of Britney Spears in the media starting from a very young age.
