Shortly after Jeffrey Epstein's death in 2019, journalists Tore Gjerstad and Gard Oterholm began a reporting project that would span years – long before millions of documents from the Epstein investigation were made public.

Working for the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv, they followed money trails, documents and personal relationships linking Epstein to some of Norway's most powerful figures, including Crown Princess Mette-Marit and former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland.
