Based on Elena Ferrante’s globally acclaimed Neapolitan novels, the series is a sweeping portrait of friendship, class, and female identity, set against the backdrop of post-war Naples. Across four seasons, it follows the complex and evolving relationship between Lenù and Lila - shaped by affection, rivalry, and the struggle to break free from one’s origins.

Saverio Constanzo, who created and wrote the series and directed the first two seasons, has shaped its distinctive tone and visual language. This masterclass will focus on quality: the high complexity, elegant cinematic language and impressive balance between intimacy and politics of the series. Step by step from early conceptualising and creation of arenas and characters to shooting, editing and finally picture lock, soundscape, visual post and score, Saverio Constanza will explain the thinking behind his artistic decisions, priorities and collaboration with producers, H.o.D.s and cast.
