After establishing herself as one of the main voices of Mexican  cinema, Issa Lopez captivated the film industry with her critically acclaimed film, TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID in 2017. AMC's Shudder released the film to rave reviews that labeled Issa “the next voice in genre” from the likes of esteemed genre legends such as Stephen King, Guillermo Del Toro & Neil Gaiman.

After successfully setting up projects around town with Producers such as Noah Hawley and Jason Blum, Issa landed the coveted task of writer, director, and producer of HBO’s TRUE DETECTIVE: NIGHT COUNTRY, starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis. The series premiered in January and has rolled out to major critical acclaim,  with 92% on RottenTomatoes and becoming the season with the largest viewership in the entire franchise. The Guardian summed it up with:  “[López] has created a brooding, melancholy world of terrible possibilities and made True Detective not just worth watching again but more so than ever.”

Issa has been reenlisted by HBO to be in charge of the next season of True Detective, and is currently working on it.
