Before SVT, Naja Nielsen was Digital Director at BBC News for six years. At BBC she was responsible for a department of 650 people, overseeing BBC News publishing on apps, websites, news channels, streaming, and social media in the United Kingdom and worldwide, with teams in London, Cardiff, Washington DC, Singapore, and Sydney.
She has also been Chief Journalism Officer at Orb Media, a start-up company in Washington DC working with digital, investigative journalism, and has an extensive background at Danmarks Radio, including roles as presenter, reporter, editor, and head of news.
Naja Nielsen was also Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, where she studied what established media should learn from – and fear in – the tech industry. Her report is titled What legacy media should learn and fear from Silicon Valley.
