Saverio Costanzo is an Italian writer and director. His feature film debut, Private, won the Golden Leopard Award at the 2004 Locarno International Film Festival and was sold to over 25 countries.
In 2006, he directed his second feature, In Memory of Me, selected in competition at the 2007 Berlinale. In 2010, he directed The Solitude of Prime Numbers, based on the novel by Paolo Giordano, which sold over two million copies in Italy and was translated into over thirty languages. The film was in competition at the 67th Venice International Film Festival.
In 2014, he wrote and directed Hungry Hearts, featuring Alba Rohrwacher and Adam Driver. The film was in competition at the 71st Venice Film Festival, where it won two Volpi Cups for the performances of the two leads.
Costanzo went on to direct the first three seasons of the Italian adaptation of In Treatment for Sky Cinema.
In 2018 and 2020, he created, wrote and directed the first two seasons of the critically acclaimed Rai-HBO series My Brilliant Friend, also authoring the scripts for the third and fourth seasons. In 2023, he presented the film Finally Dawn in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
